Do you want to act as a professional leader e.g. in your SAP project? Then put a lot of effort in the project change management and communication from the beginning of the project. In addition, make sure the project’s stakeholder management and communication roles are clear for everyone. Maybe you could utilize following communication roles in your change project:
Business Management/ Executive Sponsor Communication takes care of business people – you should inspire and motivate your own team by giving feedback, listen your employees by walking&talking, keep your customers and stakeholders satisfied by discussing with them more than normal, follow a progress of the project actively by participating project meetings etc.
Project Management Communication takes care an internal communication of the project – you should motivate your team by organizing team building sessions, start each of a project phase by providing a kickoff meeting, keep business management up-to-date by having a lunch with them on a regular basis etc.
Change Management Communication takes care both business side and project internal communication – you should keep management satisfied by collecting feedback, get needed and high quality content for a project communication by gathering change impacts, support the project manager by keeping him far away from surprises, manage the project’s stakeholders by motivating, engaging and communicating with them on a regular basis etc.
Team Lead Communication takes care the internal communication of the team, project communication and specific business area (e.g. Manufacturing or Finance) communication – you should motivate your team by sharing actively information for them, engaging your team by asking their opinions and ideas, brand yourself as a great leader by gathering feedback from the business, foster the project communication by sharing information about a status and achievements of your team etc.
Super User Communication takes care an internal communication of the team, project communication and specific business area (e.g. Human Resources or Logistics) communication – you should boost a learning process of your organization by creating training materials and sessions, support your boss and the project team by gathering open and unclear questions from business side, promote high quality project communication by informing your colleagues about the project status etc.
The more we communicate, the more successful our project will be. You’ll get a lot of support by change management professionals for your project change management and communication planning and activities.
